Days after a disturbing video of actress Maia Campbell surfaced on the internet she is now currently seeking treatment, says a friend of her late mother, author Bebe Moore Campbell.
Nancy Carter, executive director of NAMI Urban Los Angeles (NAMI Urban Los Angeles (NULA) is the urban affiliate of NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness), reached out to BlackWeb 2.0 thanking the site for the coverage and the compassion shown towards Maia. Nancy also says that Maia has been diagnosed with bi-polar/manic depression. And because substance abuse is involved she has co-occurring disorder, which has symptoms similar to schizophrenia.
